CFA job profile and description

There are two types of job of a chartered financial analyst (CFA. One of to study stock markets and the second is the financial data of companies. The job is basically to ensure the clients to make good investments so they study the rise and fall of the stock market and advice clients to make good profits from their investments in the stock market. The other job is to study the financial data of a company when required. A chartered financial analyst can either work for a stock brokerage firm or set up a freelance CFA business.

CFA duties and responsibilities

The person doing the job as a CFA will have to fulfill a number of duties and responsibilities and the duties and responsibilities of a CFA are as follows:

  • KEEP AN EYE UP ON THE STOCK MARKER: He or she will have to closely observe the ups and downs of different trade entities in order to help clients make smart investments
  • COLLECTING THE DATA: It will be the prime duty to collect the data and the required information about stock market.
  • CREATE THE SPREADSHEETS: He or she has to create spreadsheets for easy access to information and will get the information when needed.
  • PROVIDING INFORMATION: He or she has to provide the information to the stockbrokers and individual investors to make good investment.
  • ANALYZING FINANACIAL DETAILS: He or she has to study and analyze financial details of companies
  • PREPARING REPORTS: He or she has to prepare the detailed reports and records with all the financial information of the company.
  • MAKE FIELD VISITS: He or she has to oversee the work of the staff so will have to make field visits as per requirements of the company

CFA skills and specifications

The candidate should possess the following skills and specifications to do the job:

  • KNOWLEDGE OF STOCK MARKET: He or she should have excellent knowledge about the working of the stock market
  • PREDICTION POWER: The candidate should have the quality of prediction so will be able to predict  the rise and fall of stocks
  • EXCELLENT KNOWLEDGE ABOUT APPLICATION: The candidate needs to possess excellent knowledge about the software applications and tools
  • ANALYTICAL SKILLS: He or she should have very good analytical skills to analyze the things.
  • DECISION MAKING SKILLS: He or she should have excellent decision making skills as will have to take the decisions on the right time.
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: The candidate needs to have excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  • OTHER SKILLS: The candidate should have other required skills such as interpersonal skills
  • KEEP UPDATED: He or she should have the ability to keep up to date with the constantly changing market scenario

CFA education and qualification

The education and qualifications required for a CFA are:

  • The candidate should have a  bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics or accounting
  • It will be added as an advantage if the candidate will have a  CFA certification and some past working experience

CFAs salary

  • The average income of a CFA is $55,000 per annum.
