Computer Analyst Job Profile and Descriptions

There are a wide range of tasks which a computer analyst has to perform. The job of the Computer Analysts is to help in building or customizing applications that solve a particular problem task can be related to hardware and software, which can be of business, scientific or any other nature. They also have to train the people. They have to analyze the problem, capture the needs, design, formulate efficient and cost-effective software solutions for the task and implement the same. They must prepare manuals, reports and test plans. They must recommend for new systems based on needs and use the latest technologies to upgrade the software and hardware.

Duties and responsibilities

A computer analyst has to perform a wide range of duties and responsibilities as it is a very vital job and they are as follows:

  • DEVELOPING THE SOLUTION: The primary and basic duty of a computer analyst is to develop and implement the efficient and cost-effective software solutions for a particular problem.
  • PREPARING MANUALS: It will be the basic duty to prepare the manuals and user guide for training purposes and for the use of users.
  • SOLVING THE PROBLEMS: He or she has to solve the problems means Troubleshooting day-to-day problems with software and hardware and fixing them in a timely manner.
  • OVERSEE THE SYSTEMS: It will be the duty to oversee and review the systems time to time and also recommend the need for new software and hardware systems to the management if needed.
  • UPGRADE THE SOLUTIONS: It will also be very necessary to upgrade the software solutions time to time as well as the hardware systems to solve the problems as and when they arise.
  • MAINTAIN THE COMPONENTS: He or she will have to see the components that if they are working properly and maintain, monitor and coordinate the use and installation of software and hardware components.
  • UPDATE THE KNOWLEDGE: He or she will always try to update their knowledge about the latest programming techniques and technologies and also use them properly and will have to work for improving the performance of the systems.
  • WORK FOR ACHIEVING THE GOAL: It will be the duty to work closely with the management and other teams in achieving the organizational goal.

Skills and Specifications

  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: The candidate should have a very strong communication skills both written and verbally.
  • COMPUTER AND PROGRAMMING SKILLS: The candidate should have the excellent computer programming skills so will be able to solve the problem and work on that with monitoring and maintenance.
  • ABILITY OF MANAGEMENT: The candidate should be able to do the management work so should have the ability to train people and manage time efficiently.
  • LEADERSHIP QUALITIES: He or she should have excellent problem solving and leadership qualities as it requires supervising a number of people.
  • DECISION MAKING ABILITY: He or she should have the good decision-making ability as it is a very tough job and will have to make the decisions properly when required.

Education and Qualifications

  • The candidate desiring for the job should at least have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related subject.
  • It will be added as an advantage if the candidate has any Professional certification in any computer technology and some past working experience in same field
