Intelligence Analyst Job Profile and Descriptions

The intelligence analyst is a highly skilled person as he or she serves mainly in the secret intelligence. He or she has to perform a detailed analysis and research techniques on confidential intelligence information for the development of strategic or tactical plans. These analysts work largely for the public division, including police and the armed forces.

Duties and Responsibilities

The person on the position of an intelligence analyst wil has to fulfill the following duties and responsibilities:

  • He or she will have to do the work like building up intelligence images and it will also necessary to identify the potential targets and agents.
  • It will be also the duty to develop harmonious relationships with the customers to understand and recognize their intelligence requirements properly.
  • He or she has to do the work up on the information collected. Such as validating intelligence, assessing the credibility of information and reliability of sources.
  • He or she needs to consult with the staff and maintain the collaboration with the staff collate the further piece of information to develop the whole picture.
  • It will be the duty to deliver the information to the staff and the customers in the form of presentations or in formal reports and briefing the same to customers.
  • It will be the duty of the workers to decode the wide range of information so will have to use the various analytical techniques and procedures to understand and decode intelligence information.
  • He or she has to prepare the materials which will help to decode the information such as specialized crime maps, association charts, suspect profiles, and linkage analysis.
  • He or she has to do the tasks such as gathering, disseminating and using the intelligence material in compliance with classification restrictions, law and the procedures and policies.
  • It will be the duty to make proficient everybody and developing proficiency in a particular area so will have to work for that.
  • It will be the duty to establish and maintain the efficient working relationships with the public, officers, and staff of law enforcement agency and harmonious relation.
  • It will be the duty to aware the customers about the normal information such as relating to the education and prevention of criminal activity.

Skills and Specifications

The candidate should have the following skills and specifications to do the job and they are as follows:

  • KNOWLEDGE OF INTELLIGENCE: as the candidate will have to work in the department so should have the deep knowledge of intelligence department regulations, policies, and operations.
  • NEGOTIATION SKILLS: The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of investigative techniques and tools.
  • ANALYZING ABILITIES: The candidate should have the abilities to perform tactical, spatial, and strategic analysis.
  • PRRSENT THE INFORMATION: The candidate should have the ability to sum up and present composite information both written and verbally.
  • DEVELOPING THE STRATIGIES: He or she should have the ability to evaluate intelligence information and make strategic decisions when needed.

Education and Qualifications

  • BASIC DEGREE: The basic degree which is required for the job is that the candidate should at least have a degree in the field of criminology or any other related field.
  • The candidate having some past working experience in related intelligence activities is an added advantage.
