Bank customer service Job Profile and Description

Banking customer service executive has to assist the customers in any banking and finance related activities and helping them in their account management needs. He or she may be present in the bank and help the consumers through the telephone or in virtual environment as customer service is the most important thing nowadays in every sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

       As he or she has to do the customer service so will have to fulfill a number of duties and responsibilities and they are as following:

  • Bank customer service executives provide the information enquiries about products or services by interacting with the customers.
  • He or she has to understand about the customer’s problems and then resolve complaints
  • He or she has to interact with the customers through various ways, in person, by telephone, e-mail or regular mail, or fax and nowadays or even over the Internet
  • He or she has the duty basically to handle general questions and complaints, but sometimes have to deal with specific problems so should be specialized.
  • It will be the duty to help the customer about selecting the product or service which would be suitable for their needs
  • He or she has to upgrade and update the regular changes to a customer’s profile or account information
  • He or she has to maintain a database of information of all the prepared records about the customers.

Skills and Specifications

       The candidate desiring to do the job of a bank customer service needs to possess the following skills and specifications:

  • The person should have a thorough knowledge of the various services, problems and the different processes and solutions
  • The most important requirement for the job is that the candidate should have strong communication skills such as  be polite and understanding towards the customer’s queries
  • He or she should be very calm and composed as will have to deal with the irritating customers sometimes.
  • He or she should be able to take the concept of client confidentiality very seriously and organizing.

Education and Qualifications

  • BASIC DEGREE: The candidate should have a high school degree is required for customer service positions such as tellers in some of the banks.
  •  A bachelor’s degree in the field of finance and management is the industry standard is required for the senior positions like managers.
