A Business Intelligence Specialist is the one who supposed to fulfill a very comprehensive job to work for the intelligence department functions to implement and design the business intelligence systems and software.

The chief responsibility of a business intelligence specialist is to provide BI solutions to the systems and end users. Therefore he or she has to gather requirements, selecting, blueprinting and as well as providing technical support to these users. BI specialist should also be able to integrate the BI systems and software with databases and data warehouses.

Duties and Responsibilities

The business intelligence specialist has to do a comprehensive job so the duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • He or she has basically to work for improving the BI systems so has to design, Test and code new or modified BI systems.
  • It will be the duty to work for the successful completion of project so has to ensure about the data entry, changes and delete functions meet requirements.
  • He or she has to assess the long term strategic goals consulting with the end user, managers and other stakeholders for the development of BI systems.
  • He or she has the duty to present all the information to senior manager so has to develop the report and report definitions for these BI software and system.
  • He or she needs to allocate the duties to employees so has to conduct the jobs duties according to the organization’s Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.
  • He or she has to do the troubleshooting of BI tools, systems and software and also to merge the BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
  • He or she has to take care of the clients and business requirements so has to design BI front end applications according to the user requirements.

Skills and Specifications

The skills and specifications required to do the job in a person are as follows:

  • The person should have the ability to handle the situations even in high-pressure environment.
  • He or she should be able to mentor junior members of the team and it requires leadership skills.
  • The candidate should be able to maintain the coordination with the clients, managers and other stakeholders to achieve the goals.

Education and Qualifications

  • The candidate should have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Information Systems related field from an accredited institution
  • It will be added as an distinct advantage surely for the candidate having experience in Computer Science related activities.
