Carpenter Apprentice Job Profile and Description
The role of a Carpenter Apprentice is to assist the carpenter in maintenance and construction related works. The person should be very skillful to do the job and should be able to work under the supervision of a skilled carpenter. He or she should have the required knowledge of all the safety measures and applying them as well. A carpenter apprentice is generally hired by building and highway constructors and for repair works in residential buildings.
Duties and Responsibilities
There are the following duties and responsibilities of a carpenter apprentice:
- The person needs to provide assistance to the carpenter in all repair, construction and maintenance works.
- He or she needs to learn the handling of the tools so has to attend the proper training.
- It will be very necessary to follow all the safety and precautionary measures while operating power tools and other equipments.
- He or she has to follow the instructions of the supervisor for meeting the specified deadlines.
- He or she needs to understand the needs and requirements of the clients to implement them in the work.
- He or she needs to plan everything systematically by reading construction layouts and blueprints.
- It will be the duty to keep the work area clean properly and well organized as well.
- He or she needs to maintain a daily work register and the reports as well by coordinating work with fellow workers.

- The person should be an excellent communicator and should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- He or she should have the ability to read blueprints.
- He or she should have the ability to manage the time according to the work and the situations.
- The person should have the ability to meet deadlines and efficiently execute all the tasks assigned by the carpenter.
- He or she needs to have a sound and thorough understanding of all safety regulations and norms for working with carpentry tools.
- He or she should be able to maintain the coordination and should be a team player.
Education and Qualifications
- The person needs to have a High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- The other requirement for the job is a Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree or diploma in carpentry or any other related field of study.
