The work of an environmental landscape architect is basically to design land areas. They have the responsibility to protect the environment and natural habitat is fostered in an eco-friendly way. He or she may work for the government or for the private companies. The landscape architect focuses on coming up with a pleasing landscape.

Duties and Responsibilities

There are a number of duties and responsibilities which are expected to be fulfilled by an environmental landscape architect as follows:

  • The prime responsibility is to provide pleasing landscapes that will encompass all the relevant information from geologists, biologists, experts from water management along with other interested environmental groups.

  • He or she needs to determine the environmental impact of the project and make sure it is beneficial.
  • It will be also the duty to generate various computer programs to create lifelike models of the final project.
  • It will be also necessary to let the project approved by the concerned groups.
  • He or she needs to take part actively in the planning as well of the various aspects of the projects and making recommendations to the clients if necessary.
  • He or she has to promote the environmental architecture and landscaping in the various other sectors of the economy.

  • The person should have a thorough and deep knowledge of the needs and necessities of the various species living in a habitat.

Education and Qualifications

The person should have a master’s degree in environmental engineering or similar stream to do the job.

He or she should have good required basic knowledge of CAD applications as well.
