Customer Service Associate Job Description and Profile

Customer Service Associate plays a very important role in handling the clients on phone or electronically. There are a wide range of duties and responsibilities which have to be fulfilled such as handling inbound calls from the clients of an organization to provide information regarding their products or services. It will be also needed to fulfill some administrative jobs as well.  Handling complaints, documenting incidents, and reporting requests to superiors for further assistance are the other responsibilities of the customer service associate.  An Associate also has to do the documentation work such as handling document review for data processing, accuracy, and process management continuously.

Duties and Responsibilities

There are the following duties and responsibilities which a customer service associate has to fulfill:

  • It will be the duty to provide further additional information regarding products or services to the customers.
  • He or she has to use the equipments such as telephone, fax and many more.
  • He or she needs to oversee that the issues are sufficiently resolved of the clients by following them.
  • He or she will have to prepare reports regarding personal customer information, unresolved matters, action taken, and any relevant comments or notes and all the transactions with the customers.
  • It will be the responsibility to fulfill the common jobs such as opening and closing accounts, taking orders, and collecting the required information regarding matters or complaints that require further attention.
  • He or she needs to provide comprehensive data service to the customers.
  • He or she has to advise upon available organization’s services and products.
  • It will be needed to take the decisions when needed to the complaint’s genuineness, and determining possible reasons behind every complaint.
  • H or she has to ensure that the information regarding customer requests and complaints is provided accurately and efficiently and in time as well.

Skills and Specifications

There are the following skills and specifications required in a person to do the job of a customer service associate:

  • The person needs to have good conflict training to do the job.
  • He or she should have required analytical skills with the ability to solve the problems and organizational skills.
  • He or she should have the ability to type quickly and accurately.
  • He or she should have the ability to deal with customers from diverse backgrounds and regions as well.
  • The person should be bale to do the multi-tasking work to meet established deadlines.
  • The person needs to have required interpersonal skills so should be calm and patient.

Education and Qualifications

  • The person needs to have a general education or degree from an accredited institute.
  • The other requirement for the job is having some past working experience in customer service activities.
