Film Directors are basically the part managers and part artists associated with the filmmaking but needs to fulfill a very vital and comprehensive job. The film director ahs to perform multi tasking job as the scope of supervision is quite vast but needs to manage the affairs of the set to maintain artistic beauty.  He or she has the duty to oversee every bit of the film making process. It will be needed to supervise in the movie set properly.

Duties and Responsibilities

There are the following duties and responsibilities of a film director:

  • The film director has the responsibility to work with everyone associated with the process of making films.
  • He or she needs to work with everyone from the actor and producer to the technician and camera man.
  • He or she has to manage the pre- production work properly such as the tasks of casting and reviewing the script.
  • It will be the responsibility to oversee the filming properly and needs to look after each and every scene of the film.
  • The most important task is to coach the actors in matters of acting.
  • The duty includes overseeing the postproduction phase of the movie such as editing of the movie and drawing a cohesive story.
  • It will be the duty to take care of the technical features of the movie properly so has to look after the timing, sound and structural factors of the film.
  • It will be needed to maintain an efficient communication level with the members of the movie making team.
  • He or she has the responsibility to maintain the proper communication to maintain the process running smoothly.

Skills and Specifications

The skills and specifications required in a person to do the job of a film director are as follows:

  • The person needs to have a very fine sense of aesthetics.
  • He or she should have a very strong eye for precision.
  • The person needs to have the ability to put a keen eye for details.
  • He or she should have a sound and deep adequate knowledge about film making process to do the job.

Education and Qualifications

  • The person needs to have a Bachelor’s degree in filmmaking from an accredited school of filmmaking.
  • It will be an added advantage for the person having Five to ten years of past working experience as an assistant director.
