General Services Director Job Description and Profile

The General Services Director supposed to do the planning, organizing and directing operations of the General Services Department of the company. He or she has to work under a proper direction and supervision. He or she needs to provide other support functions to departments of the company. it will be needed to perform all the other  related tasks and duties as required.

Duties and responsibilities

There are a number of duties and responsibilities which a general service director ahs to fulfill are as follows:

  • The general service director has the responsibility to oversee and supervise the staff in coordination and planning of support services to other departments.
  •  He or she needs to do direct the staff in risk managements, information systems, purchasing, facilities maintenance, vehicle operations, property management, communications and telephone services.
  • It will be needed to work as a head of the modification, development and implementation of administrative and operational procedures and policies properly.
  • He or she will be responsible for the direction of departmental subordinates to create, adjust and change priorities.
  • He or she has the responsibility to create presentations by providing appropriate answers to queries on policy and technical issues and other conflicts related to department-provided services.
  • He or she needs to take actively part in groups and committees that effectively formulate regulations and policies related to department services.
  • It will be needed to work as a representative of the department interacting with other company departments, vendors, and contractors and outside groups and organizations and other clients.
  • It will be the responsibility to respond quickly and efficiently to serve requests referred by supervisors and managers.
  • He or she needs to take actively part in various meetings, negotiations and various forums.
  • He or she is responsible for directing the staff members in preparing and monitoring of budget properly and timely.
  • It will be needed to analyze the services to ensuring the efficiency in costs and adequate and effective levels of departmental service.

Skills and Specifications

The skills and specification required for doing the job are as follows:

  • The person should have the ability to plan, delegate and organize the work properly.
  • He or she must be able to develop the policies based upon the objectives and apply policies.
  • He or she should have the ability to establish and adjust goals and priorities properly.
  • The person must have the ability to provide vivid and efficient direction to unit staff.
  • He or she should have the ability to interpret the rules, policies and laws properly and perfectly.
  • The person should have the ability to communicate effectively with the clients verbally and in writing.
  • He or she should have the extraordinary interpersonal skills to establish effective and harmonious work relationships with other departments, agencies, companies and the general public.

Education and Qualifications

  • The person should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any other related Course.
  • He or she needs to have some past working 5 years of managerial experience in areas of budget preparation, program management, planning and supervision.
  • He or she must have worked in a company or agency that provides diverse services.
  • It will be needed to have 2 years of working experience doing duties similar to that of General Services Director.
  • He or she must possess a Driver’s License (Class C) to do the job.
