The accounts payable clerk has to fulfill a very responsible and vital job as it is the job related to finance. He or she needs to fulfill a variety of accounting and clerical tasks. The tasks may be related to the maintenance of accounts payable transactions. Basically, the term ‘accounts payable’ refers to the payments and debts that are to be paid to creditors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • He or she also needs to record the expenses for tax payment purposes properly.

The required skills and specifications are as follows:

  • It is needed to have a sound and deep knowledge of general accounting principles specifically those related to accounts payable.
  • He or she should have the required knowledge about the relevant computer applications.
  • He or she must have the proficiency in the data entry and management
  • The person must have the excellent organization skills to be organized and pay attention to detail and accuracy.

  • The person should have the excellent communication and problem-solving skills to do the job.

Education and Qualifications

  • The basic degree required for the job is a bachelor’s degree in commerce with specialization in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, and economics.
  • He or she must be well-versed in accounting software.
  • It will be needed to have the proficiency in computers as most of the transactions are done electronically nowadays.
  • It will be an added advantage for the person having or an MBA degree.
