Asset Disposal Manager Job Profile and Description

The asset disposal manager is the one who supposed to monitor and oversee the disposal of assets that can form part of a miscellaneous income of the company. Not every asset in the books with zero book values is worthless. It can be la full time profession as well in the large companies with a large inventory of productive assets, disposing of zero book value assets. These goods can be anywhere from old abandoned buildings, outdated manufacturing machines to a fleet of executive cars and delivery vans to office equipment like PCs and typewriters.

Duties and Responsibilities

There are the following duties and responsibilities of an asset disposal manager which have to be fulfilled:

  • The asset disposal manger has the main duty to monitor the corporate asset accounts.
  • He or she has the responsibility to verify that if the productive equipment remains useful despite reaching zero-book values.
  • The director also has the duty to make sure the verification of the de-commissioned equipment.
  • It is needed to make sure that the equipments have passed through the past zero book valuation or are certified by authorized technicians as uneconomical to repair before scheduling for disposal.
  • It will be also needed to maintain the effective business relationships with the third party buyers of assets for disposal.
  • The duty also includes arranging the schedule for the bidding of surplus supplies and equipment when required.
  • He or she also has the responsibility to do the work of documentation so has to journalize all disposed assets properly.
  • The other duties which are expected to be fulfilled are the receiving and processing of the authorization for unsold merchandize items.
  • He or she needs to receive the process of discount bulk disposal.
  • The accounts disposal manger has the duty to present the prepared reports to the senior authorities and higher management regarding monthly asset disposals.

The required skills and specifications are as follows:

  • The person needs to have a thorough and deep understanding of the local and federal tax and inheritance tax laws.
  • The person needs to have very strong organizational skills to do the effective organization.
  • The person should have the exceptional people management skills to do the job.
  • He or she needs to be excellent supervisor and should have the managerial competence as will be needed to handle a team of estate planers and managers in a department.
  • He or she should have the excellent verbal and written communication skills to do the job.
  • The person needs to have the team working skills with the interpersonal skills to establish and maintain the effective working relationships
  • He or she should have the excellent problem solving and time management skills to do the job.

Education and Qualifications

  • The basic degree required to do the job is a college degree in accounting field business management is an advantage.
  • The person needs to have the past 2-3 year of working experience related asset disposal or asset accounting field will be ns added advantage.
  • The person must have the required computer knowledge and literacy with spreadsheets and word processing.
