The job of Event planning involves planning and coordinating events. An event planner is also known as an event coordinator, conference coordinator or meeting manager it may be festivals, ceremonies, conventions, competitions and parties. He or she has to fulfill the jobs such as planning, organizing and coordinating events. He or she needs to be specialized in planning of social or corporate events..

Duties and Responsibilities

The following are the event planner’s job duties and responsibilities:

  • The main responsibility is to prepare the event budget and establishing event dates.
  • He or she has to select event venue or sites.
  • It will be the duty to make reservations for event locations and develop the event theme as well.
  • He or she has to select the decor to be used at the event.
  • He or she is responsible for arranging the event decor, tents, tables and chairs.
  • He or she has to make transportation arrangements and also select and hire caterers for the event.
  • He or she needs to prepare the guest list.
  • It will be the duty to mange and supervise contractors, caterers and other staff.
  • He or she has to effectively arranging the decor.
  • He or she has to ensure the event meets all health, safety and building standards.
  • He or she is responsible for selecting and hiring valets as well as parking attendants
  • It is needed to do the basic jobs such as hiring the DJ and selecting the key note speaker.
  • He or she has the duty to select and hire the security detail properly.
  • It will be needed to maintain the coordination with the client to ensure that the event is successful

  • The person must possess excellent negotiation skills.
  • He or she should have the ability to work well under pressure.
  • The person needs to be a team player and independent.
