Housekeeping supervisor Job Profile and Description
A housekeeping supervisor is someone who is responsible for overseeing managing, and has to do the effective supervision of laundry and linen services.
Duties and Responsibilities
A housekeeping supervisor has to fulfill the following duties and responsibilities:
- The main duty is to contact with others in the performance of daily duties including subordinates, other employees, contractors, and patients.
- He or she has to supervise the housekeeping services such as cleaning, mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing the floors and other surfaces as well.
- He or she has to oversee the refinishing, waxing and polishing of floors, tile work and other various floor and wall surfaces in stairways, hallways, restrooms, offices, laboratories, recreation and locker rooms.
- He or she has to make sure that restrooms are sanitized, cleaned and stocked on a regular basis.
- He or she has to wash windows and polish special metal fixtures and surfaces such as nickel and brass work.
- It will be the duty to clean, dust, and polish furniture and equipment, washes and polishes drinking fountains and other fixtures.
- The duty includes the jobs such as empties waste baskets and trash boxes and ensuring staff offices are cleaned daily.
- He or she has the duty to take inventory of linens and supplies linens to areas on a daily basis.
- It will be the duty to supervise the area, establishes a work schedule, and resolves any coverage issues.
- He or she also has to recruit and interview applicants and makes hiring recommendations to the immediate supervisor.
Skills and Specifications
The required skills and specifications are as follows:
- The person must be physically fit as most functions are incumbent of up to 50 pounds.
- He or she should have the will power to work in the presence of dirt, dust and fumes
Education and Qualifications
- The person must have required completion of 10th grade high school.
- The basic degree required is a high school diploma or equivalent
