Swimming Instructor Job Profile and Description

A Swimming instructor trains others on how to swim in a pool. A swimming coach guides and trains learners on different swimming techniques and teaches them how to be good swimmer.

A Swimming pool instructor may find work at a hotel, club or recreational centre.

Swimming Instructor Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Training others on how to swim right – children, adults and old people
  • Understanding students’ weakness and train them accordingly.
  • Dealing with people with different attitudes – helping them get rid of their fear for water
  • Training students how to swim, and how to rescue themselves and others at difficult times
  • Develop expertise in swimming to gain finer swimming experience to establish as an experienced and expert swimming trainer.
  • Checking the water quality in the swimming pool and informing authorities to make necessary changes to avoid harm to swimmers.

Swimming Instructor Skills and Specifications –

  • Have certification as professional swimmer
  • Have good swimming experience

Swimming Instructor Education and Qualifications –

  • There are no formal educational requirements for this position.
  • Should know water safety procedures and have knowledge about swimming
  • Should know advanced swimming techniques and have good  teaching skills.

Swimming Instructor Salary –

The salary for a swimming instructor is about $40,000 per year.
