A Criminal Justice Lawyer is required to advocate their clients facing criminal charges. They have expertise in supporting and defending a criminal case in which accused is guilty of a certain crime. They provide legal counsel to client for getting a legal judgment overturned in their client’s favor.

Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Defending clients accused of a crime.
  • Dealing with appeal a case in which accused is guilty by a prior legal judgment.
  • Studying  information about past legal judgments
  • Providing legal counsel to clients

Skills and Specifications –

  • Should possess good oral communication skills as it requires them to argue in front of a court judge
  •  Must have strong analytical skills
  • Should have good writing skills to prepare high-quality legal briefs to present a legal case
  • Should have good interpersonal skills
  • Should have good logical skills to understand judge’s perspective about a case
  • Should be physically fit for working long hours
  • Should have excellent researching skills
  • Must be capable of handling demanding situations.

Education and Qualifications –

A person should have a four year pre-law degree, a three year- law degree and a license from the State Bar Association to qualify.
