The position of a Maintenance Shift Supervisor is primarily administrative in nature and requires one to execute their organisational skills immaculately. The key role of an individual in this position is to ensure that all maintenance activities and operations are smoothly conducted and that all systems of a facility are appropriately functioning. Maintenance shift supervisors need to follow all standard operating procedures of a company while working.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of subordinates and delegating work functions to them.
  • Planning and organising work shifts for the timely completion of all maintenance activities.
  • Inspecting all maintenance processes and evaluating the work of subordinates.
  • Organising job training activities for all subordinates.
  • Maintaining proper shift cycles for maintenance activities.
  • Coordinating all work processes with other internal departments of the organisation.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of quality and standards set by the organisation.
  • Complying with of all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and health administration rules (OSHA) while conducting maintenance processes.
  • Recruiting staff and other maintenance helpers into the team.

Skills and Specifications

  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
  • Should have good leadership and organisational skills and the ability to motivate team members.

Education and Qualifications

  • High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree in administration, management, personnel management, or any other discipline with about 2 – 3 years of experience as a shift supervisor.
