The role of change management specialist is very important in change initiative projects to meet business budget and schedule objectives. The responsibility of the specialist is to focus on the changes in the systems, business processes, technology, organization structures and job roles. The specialist has to create and implement such changes in the management plans and strategies which will maximize the employee engagement in the organization and would help to reduce employee resistance. The job of the person is to basically adopt, utilize and attain proficiency in all the changes that affect the employees of the organization so that targeted business results are achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To apply a properly structured change management plan and a well structured methodology so that the employees are able to adopt to the changes caused by the projects.
  • He has to develop a good change management plan after considering the details of the changes made and the group that has been affected.
  • He has to conduct readiness assessments, and evaluate results of the assessments. After this he has to present his findings in a lay man language which is understandable and in a logical manner.
  • He has to identify potential employees, any side risks if there and has to anticipate the resistance of the employees. He has to develop specific plans to address or mitigate the concerns.
  • He has to develop a set of targeted and actionable change management plan that will include communication plan, coaching plan, sponsor roadmap, resistance management plan and training plan.
  • He should be able to create and manage measurement systems in order to track utilization, adoption, and proficiency of employee changes.
  • He should support the implementation of plans by business leaders and employee-facing managers.
  • He should work with project teams in integrating change actions into the actual overall project plan.
  • He should be able to identify performance and resistance gaps, and work towards the development and execution of corrective actions.
  • He has to work with training, communication, OD and HR specialists to formulate particular activities and plans for support in the project implementation.
  • He should create and activate reinforcement mechanisms and jubilations of success.
  • Knowledge of principles and methodologies of change management.
  • Able to work well with all levels of professionals in an organization.
  • Excellent active listening, root cause identification and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communicator and able to influence people.
  • Good team player and able to operate independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management from an accredited institution.
  • Degree in human resources management related field.
