Assembly Line Job Profile and Description

The ‘Assembly Line’ refers to a particular area in a factory where various parts and components are assembled by workers. There are both manual and automated assembly areas in manufacturing units. This kind of job involves assembling various parts of a product, or the whole product being assembled.

Duties and Responsibilities –

  • This type of job includes different positions – from assemblers to production line managers.
  • Assembling parts or a whole product and, testing test sub-assembled parts prior assembling
  • Storing and keeping production parts, tools and equipments
  • Performing inspection for ensuring correct assembly of a product
  • Performing testing, weighing or sampling of the product – sometimes smelling a product
  • Keeping the work station neat and in order, and storing & keeping production parts and tools safely
  • Taking care of the assembling machinery

Skills and Specifications –

  • Sorters, samplers and weighers are part of the job
  • Must be physically fit and healthy
  • Must be able to work for long hours
  • Must have good logical and communication skills
  • Should be a team player and have god coordination skills
  • Must be highly careful to avoid any kind of accidents

Education and Qualifications –

The educational qualifications requirements for the assembly line jobs depend on the particular position. A high school diploma is required for positions like sorters, samplers and weighers etc. Some positions may require related training or certification.
