The ‘Production Expediting Clerk’ takes care of the different aspects of production procedures in a manufacturing facility. They coordinate and speed up the delivery of merchandise, equipments and supplies in a company for effective production schedules. This is an entry-level position, and a clerk works in cooperation with production, engineering, sales and marketing staff, and also deals with outside shipping agents and vendors. It requires having knowledge of production and shipping processes.

Production Expediting Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Documenting production data like daily volumes per division, raw input consumption, output augmentation plan results, training accomplishments and worker turnover,
  • Checking documents and watching work in processes to review conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Checking documents like work orders, production schedules, and staffing tables to determine requirements for personnel and materials, and set material priorities.
  • Making requisitions for raw material inventories to meet production demands.
  • Assigning production schedules and work orders to divisions

Production Expediting Skills and Specifications –

  • Should have knowledge about quality assurance methods
  • Must have multi-tasking abilities
  • Must be detail-conscious to identify errors and discrepancies in production reports
