The job profile of a ‘Promotions Manager’ involves managing the execution of promotions programs for a company. One is required to enhance distribution channels through purchasing incentives in order to promote sales and grow business. They achieve targets through – direct marketing mailers, store floor displays, online retailing, shopping discount coupons, and product endorsements, and public events etc. It also includes discounts, free samples, and promotional gifts, tie-ups with other products, sweepstakes, and contests etc-etc.

Promotions Manager Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Preparing and presenting the annual promotions budget and the parallel promotional campaigns and distribution plans for management approval.
  • Developing the promotions campaigns in line with the advertising thematic directions.
  • Working in coordination with the brand management and sales team for various promotional campaigns.
  • Work in coordination with the company’s advertising agencies to develop promotional collaterals and giveaways.
  • Approving the various promotional collaterals, corporate gifts and giveaways, trade fair participations etc-etc.

Promotions Manager Skills and Specifications –

  • Must know how to conceptualize creative ideas to promote products or services
  • Must have excellent organizational and managerial skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and social skills to deal with the clients, management and advertising agencies
  • Must have excellent verbal and writing communication skills

Promotions Manager Education and Qualifications –

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Advertising or Mass Communication is a must
  • Work experience of 2-3 years in public relations, media management, marketing or advertising may is preferred
  • An MBM or MBA is an advantage
