Cable Television Staff Assistant Job Description and Profile

Under general supervision, the Cable Television Staff Assistant provides technical support to state-wide cable television production activities. The job of Cable Television Staff Assistant entails having a technical role in cable TV activities apart from being support to the general staff.

Duties and Specifications

  • Provides technical form of assistance in the broadcast and rebroadcast as well as videotape of meetings of the Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors and other public or community groups.
  • Copies and distributes meeting and other activity videotapes.
  • Acts as the video producer and director for various programs.
  • Operates video and related instruments and equipment utilized in the production of cable TV and related activities such as remote cameras, server for videos, DVD players and recorders, audio mixers, non-linear editing system, character generator, video projectors, 35 mm, digital photo cams, video editing equipment, teleconferencing equipment systems and satellite receivers.
  • Utilizes software meant for document-formatting and office automation meant to facilitate general office support such as maintenance of office supply inventory, videotape archives, air logs, duplication records and usage records.
  • Prepares schedules, trains and monitors the work of videographers as well as interns.
  • Maintains regular communication and contact with colleges and universities within the vicinity for possible involvement of students in internship programs.

Skills and Specifications

  • Able to learn and understand state and federal regulations regarding the operation of cable TV systems and broadcast through cable systems.
  • Can operate video production devices and other related equipment.
  • Be able to schedule the work of interns and train them.
  • Be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Can establish and maintain harmonious and effective work relationships.
  • Able to work accurately and promptly under pressure.
  • Can create and maintain efficient filing systems.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Completion of intermediate and advanced level courses in computer graphics software and hardware.
  • Ample training in communications and media presentation is desirable.
  • At least a year of experience in technical TV production in public broadcast, commercial and cable television that provide the necessary knowledge and skills
  • Bachelor’s degree is basic.
