Banquet Sales Manager Job Profile and Description

The job of a Banquet Sales Manager involves planning and executing parties, functions and various events at a hotel or restaurant. They are required to sell the services of a banquet hall to maximum possible number of people and increase revenues.

Banquet Sales Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate event specifications with appropriate hotel divisions like catering and kitchen personnel, facilitates maintenance, audio-visual strategies group, etc. to make sure they all work together for the occurrence.
  • Meet and discuss with clients on the essentials of the event such as the date and time, logistical specifications (audiovisual features, stage equipment, lectern, table dressings etc.), menu items and the number of tables for pricing and planning requirements,
  • Make regular trips to the event and check with hosts to make sure that everything’s continuing as planned.
  • Mentor, coach, and train food personnel.
  • Executing management responsibilities such as but not limited to: communication, contract generation, processing, management and office support to sales agents, and other responsibilities as expected by management.
  • Promote the hotel’s event planning services to the area by joining industry events, Chamber of Industry events, workshops and business events.

Banquet Sales Manager Skills and Specifications

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and people management skills
  • Must have high directorial, and supervisory skills

Banquet Sales Manager Education and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management or related courses is basic.
  • Work experience of 2-3 years in a similar management capacity is a plus.
