Automotive Glass Technician Job Profile and Description

This role is also known as ‘Automotive Glass Installer or Repairer’ – they perform installation, repair or replacement of broken windshields and window glasses in automobiles. Some professionals are specialized in certain automotive field, especially in authorized service centers of expensive brands, but most of them work in general automotive repair shops.

Automotive Glass Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check windshield condition to find out if a repair or replacement working properly, and put in order material and cost estimates.
  • Order and get issued windshields or windows for specific automobile brands and models and check for defects before installing them.
  • Get the windshield repair kit for repairing cracked areas etc.
  • Eliminate all destroyed glass debris and also foreign matter from windshield framework edges prior to installing of new glass
  • Apply primer along windshield or window edges, enabling it to dry
  • Install right substitute glass in vehicles
  • Permit glass parts set up with urethane sufficient time to alleviate, under right humidity as well as temp.
  • Prime all gaps and also scrapes on pinchwelds letting it to dry
  • Reinstall all moldings, windshield wipers in addition to any other parts removed prior to glass replacement or repair.
