CAD Technician Job Description and Profile

A Cad Technician’s job is to create and update engineering drawings under the technological supervision of engineers or project designers. They work on various assignments in a team to complete CAD drafting tasks. They are responsible for preparing project timelines along with the Project Engineers and Engineering Manager. They have to deliver complete, appropriate and accurate drawings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Making maps, designs, and drawings – pump and piping plans, grading and drainage plans, site plans, and drawings etc. for construction projects.
  • Drafting task, and practicing CAD layering proposals to project documents.
  • Record drawings and other products for public and private agencies, other departments and organizations.
  • Making hard-line drawings, and miscellaneous tasks required by project team members
  • Applying facilities installation information – parcel, notes, details, and other information, valve sheets, quad sheets, and maps etc.
  • Developing CAD drawings with minimum possible direction, and no majorly noticeable redline sketches.
  • Preparing record plans or drawings as well as digital redlines through CAD tools and other technology tools.
  • Maintaining and updating pressure zone maps, incorporating new reservoirs, pipelines, and pumping stations.
  • Performing CAD assignments as per the company standards.

Skills and Specifications

  • Good knowledge of engineering design principles
  • Good computer, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Good understanding about construction methods and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creative mind
  • Able to meet fixed deadlines and work as a team member.

Education and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Manufacturing field
  • Degree in Computer Aided Design related field.
  • Certification in CAD from an accredited institution.
