Telecommunications Supervisor Job Description and Profile

Under general supervision, the job of the Telecommunications Supervisor includes the supervision of installation and maintenance of electronic telephone system and other related tools and equipment. He consults with other officers in providing telephone services and other related training. The Telecommunications Supervisor plans and creates changes in the systems as performs other related tasks and duties required of him to do.

Duties and Specifications

  • Supervises the installation, repair and maintenance of telephones, electronic switching systems and other related equipment.
  • Consults with other company heads to meet their phone system requirements.
  • Assists in knowing and prioritizing general service goals.
  • Give relevant training in the operation of telephone to employees.
  • Coordinates phone company service in issues such as switching systems to resolve repair disputes.
  • Supervises phone services contractors.
  • Performs minor repair and maintenance on electronic key and PABX systems.
  • Operates automated / computerized phone management as well as control system software in order to correct problems and impose changes on the systems.
  • Evaluate requirement for changes on the program and creates management reports.

Skills and Specifications

  • Able to provide effective phone service to company divisionss in the utilization of electronic switching systems, user equipment and controllers.
  • Should be able to direct the maintenance, installation as well as repair of related equipment.
  • Be able to evaluate and modify service levels in order to user requirements.
  • Makes minor maintenance on PABX equipment.
  • Be able to design and implement user training schemes and programs.
  • Establish cooperative and harmonious work relations with various administrative and technical staff, divisions employees, co-employees and other agency representatives.
  • Should know how to prepare effective and relevant reports.
  • Able to develop significant cost analyses and be able to assist in preparation of budget.

Education and Qualifications

  • At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in maintenance, installation as well as operation of phone communication systems, tools and equipment is preferred.
  • Should have 2 years of administrative or supervisory experience and likewise 2 years solid experience with PABX equipment system.
  • IP Telephony technology knowledge is wished.
