The operational meteorologist gives a priceless service to the society by making reasonable weather forecasts on which a lot of things we do for the day depends on. Based on various atmosphere data monitoring systems on the ground and with satellites, along with radar systems, a forecasting model is made that can predict temperatures, humidifies and weather aberrations in 3-5 days. The Meteorologist Trainee takes on an entry level work to learn the ropes as a weather forecaster in the government, university or private research lab in preparation for taking American Meteorological Society licensing requirements as Certified Consulting Meteorologist professional gives an added advantage

Meteorologist Intern/Trainee Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of data collecting tools for any on-site weather analysis or study
  • Drive mobile weather stations like vans and set-up weather collecting systems onsite
  • Assist the lead meteorologist in conducting weather pattern analysis
  • Analyze collected weather data and present forecast model to meteorologist for confirmation, correction and approval
  • Attend trainings and seminars on weather forecasting technologies and trends
  • Perform relevant tasks as may be directed by the meteorologist.

Meteorologist Intern/Trainee Skills and Specifications

  • Has attention to detail in analyzing weather patterns
  • Has ability to present contrary forecasts based on weather data
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English

Meteorologist Intern/Trainee Education and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science or equivalent degree with focus on meteorology is necessary.
