Staff Analyst Job Description and Profile

The Staff Analyst’s job is to conduct research and analysis of specialized and technical nature on development or critical issues having important impact on the goals under administrative direction. He or she has to develop methods and strategies for initiating efforts to coordinate and integrate services delivery and likewise performs related task and duties required of him to do.

Duties and responsibilities

A staff analyst has to fulfill a wide range of duties and responsibilities and it includes following:

  • RESEARCH AND INTERPRET THE INFORMATION: He or she has to research and interpret the signification information in the areas of demographic, economic, legislative as well as fiscal trend and developments
  • ASSIST THE MANAGEMENT: He or she has to assist the management in making decisions in resolving critical problems or issues.
  • DEVELOP THE STRATIGIES: He or she has to develop the procedures and strategies in the delivery of related services perfectly.
  • PREPARE THE PROJECTS: He or she has to create the projects also related to  funding and budgetary projections
  • MAKE THE RECOMMENDATIONS: He or she needs to find out and see the required changes and make recommendations for existing or new programs.
  • CONDUCT MANAGEMENT: He or she needs to conduct the management or fiscal studies of any scope or magnitude as may be required.
  • USING THE RESOURCES: He or she will be needed to use the resources such as of state, federal and local resources.
  • PREPARE THE REPORTS: He or she has to prepare the statistic and narrative reports of findings that includes graphs and charts.
  • CREATE THE STATEMENTS: The duty also includes creating the policy as well as financial statements as well as responses to legislation.
  • PROVIDE THE INFORMATION TO STAFF: He or she needs to provide significant information to staff members, officials and community members to educate them on various issues and aware about the information.
  • PROVIDE TECHNICAL INFORMATION: He or she needs to provide technical information to members of the community
  • EXPLAIN THE STAFF: It will be also needed to explain the staff members and the community the  projected consequences and chances of important issues like legislation

Skills and Specifications

      If a person wants to do the job of a staff analyst then he or she will have to possess number of attributes and need to have not only the skills but the technical knowledge also and it is as follows:

  • The candidate should have the ability to learn easily the rules, can easily read and explain various policies, rules, law and regulations to the staff members.
  • He or she must be able of doing significant research and analysis, analyze important data timely.
  •  He or she will have to oversee and draw sound conclusions and then make appropriate recommendations regarding the systems to the management.
  • He or she should have the ability to exercise judgment the things properly.
  • He or she should have extraordinary communication skills whether orally or in written form.
  • It will be very necessary to get the information from the reliable sources so will be able to find the sources.
  • He or she should be able to prepare the reports and a variety of reports.
  • It will be very necessary to establish the harmonious relation with the other people and then maintain them.
  • A staff analyst has to give the presentations so will be able to make and give public presentations.
  • The candidate should have the ability to utilize everything so must know how to utilize automated computerized systems in the preparation of maintenance of data

Education and Qualifications

  • The candidate should at least have three years of relevant experience in conducting analysis and research for a company, preferably in the area of economics, legislation, fiscal issues and demographics.
  • He or she needs to possess valid State Driver’s License (Class C).
