Generally a banking account manager is the very first person a new customer to the bank meets. In this capacity, a banking account manager has to explain to the new customer the different services the bank offers. He should help the customer in the process of opening a new account, receive and count working cash, validate cash checks, accept cash and check deposits and check them for accuracy against the deposit slips, process cash withdrawals, and prepare personal money orders, issue traveler’s checks, exchange foreign currency and prepare cashier’s checks.

Banking Account Manager Duties and Responsibilities

The following are some of the duties and responsibilities that a banking account manager:

  • Should have a thorough knowledge about the financial products and services offered by the bank
  • Meet new customers and find out their needs
  • Recommend a bank account to the customer and facilitate opening of the account
  • Answer queries related to the account and resolve customer problems with the account
  • Keep the client list updated and check it periodically to see whether a customer may benefit from new product or service that the bank has introduced
  • Refer existing customers to other departments of the bank, such as mortgage department or financial planning department
