Glaziers basically have to do the task of selecting, cutting, removing, installing and replacing glass in all types of settings.  They can work in the old or new construction and in numerous settings including houses, skyscrapers to grocery stores and banks. They often have to work with other materials like granite, marble and many other types of glass substitute.

Glazier Duties and Responsibilities

Here are the duties and responsibilities of a glazier as follows:

  • The glazier has the main responsibility to install different kinds of glass in different places to put insulating glass where it is most required.
  • He or she needs to install large structural glass panels on the exteriors of buildings to create walls that will help in the entrance of natural light.
  • He or she has to install the other things as well such as mirrors, automobile windows etc to homes.
  • He or she needs to work with plastics, granite, aluminum, marble etc for different purposes and reasons.
  • He or she needs to cut the glass after, measuring and making the cutting line to size manually at a work site.
  • He or she needs to break off the excess glass by different means- either by hand or with a notched tool.
  • He or she needs to do the required works before installing the Glasson storefront windows such as cutting and fastening together pieces of metal.
  • He or she needs to do the molding work and cut the drain moldings and face those moldings that fit around the opening.
