The dean of student affairs needs to perform the teaching functions of the university. He or she supposed to provide administrative function, disciplinary measures and other administrative functions for the university’s student population. It will be also needed to provide support both academic and extracurricular activities. He or she has to oversee and review the authorizing charters of student bodies, campus clubs and association.

  • It will be the duty to maintain the coordination with the student political and social organizations authorized in the campus.
  • He or she has to understand the student concerns in the academic, sporting and extra-curricular affairs.
  • He or she has to oversee the section of administration which is processing of student undergoing administrative sanctions from the university’s Disciplinary Board.
  • The dean of the student affairs has to oversee the administration of scholarships, grants and fellowships.
  • It will be the responsibility to review that they are sponsored by the university and allied organizations and foundations.

The required skills and specifications for the job are as follows:

  • The person must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and needs to be an excellent communicator.

  • The person should have excellent organizational skills to do the effective organization.
  • He or she should have the qualities of being a good leader and should have the managerial skills to do the proper management.

  • The person needs to have a master’s degree to do the job.
  • He or she should have a doctoral degree which is preferred in certain fields where there is high competition for the position.
  • It will be an added advantage for the person having 7-9 years of past working experience as a professor in the college.
