Engineering Director/Manager Job Profile and Description

The engineering management position is the one which can be a manager, director or even a VP. They are generally employed in a large company that employs a staff of engineers. The engineering director needs to supervise the team of engineers and manage the corporate resources as well. He or she has to work as a head of the larger groups with highly evolved engineering functions. The job calls for someone who has both the technical competence as well as the managerial skills.

  • The prime responsibility is to direct and manage multiple concurrent engineering projects.

  • It will be the duty to present the engineering plans, progress status updates and stationers to project stakeholders and financiers.
  • He or she has the responsibility to oversee the proposed engineering designs and subsequent product and process.
  • It is needed to identify the requirements for the changes and needs to do the enhancements or changes.
  • He or she also needs to perform the administrative tasks such as approving proposals, expenditures, enforcing policies and hiring and firing of engineers.
