Waiter Job Profile and Description:

The job profile of Waiter involves serving guests and taking their orders. A Waiter works in a restaurant or hotel. A waiter ensures excellent customer service by fulfilling requests of guests. They need to create a good impression of the establishment in eye of guests.

Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Welcoming guests and helping them sit and feel relaxed
  • Taking and delivering orders in time
  • Advising on good food items and providing knowledge about ingredients
  • Garnishing food items
  • Preparing tables before and after an order
  • Taking feedback from the guests about the food and service
  • Presenting bills to guests and depositing payments to cashier
  • Keeping the restaurant clean

Skills and Specifications –

  • Should have excellent customer service skills
  • Should have good knowledge about available dishes
  • Should be well groomed
  • Maintaining the dining area clean and  hygiene
  • Should be organized and be able to work well under pressure
  • Coordinate with different departments of hotel/restaurant

Education and Qualifications –

A High School diploma is sufficient for this position to work as a Waiter; however upscale hotels may hire only graduates with a hotel management degree.
