With the increasing numbers of automated production plants and manufacturing units, the job of a Maintenance Planner is gaining importance by the day. Individuals of such jobs are responsible for the repair, servicing and smooth functioning of all machinery and equipments in a plant. Production plants, automobile and aviation sectors and other such facilities mostly hire Maintenance planners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Checking and inspecting all production machinery and engines in a unit.
- Regular servicing and maintenance of all machinery and equipments and ensuring the proper functioning of the same.
- Coordinating work with the production department and ensuring that all equipments and machinery are functioning to full capacity.
- Leading a team of subordinates and delegating work areas to them.
- Ensuring the proper usage of maintenance tools and equipments for repairs.
- Following all safety regulations and norms of functioning.
- Maintaining records of service cycles and other maintenance activities.
- Planning maintenance and service procedures in a facility.
- Organising training activities for subordinates.
- Recruiting maintenance personnel and evaluating their performances.
Skills and Specifications
- Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
- Should have good leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to coordinate work with other internal departments.
Education and Qualifications
- High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or any other discipline with 2 – 3 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic.
