Bindery Worker Job Profile and Description

The job profile of a ‘Bindery Worker’ involves setting up and operating the binding machine. They have to perform activities related to binding and compiling books, cards, pamphlets, magazines, documents, and other paper materials.  They have to oversee the binding machines – cleaning and maintaining the machines to avoid rusting or immobility of parts.

Bindery Worker Duties and Responsibilities –

Thus the focal points of the job are laid down in the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Placing  and operating binding and cutting machines
  • Fitting in the back gear for a specific type of length, width and squaring for binding
  • Adjusting the machines for a limited number of performance
  • Compressing papers for  – bounding, side-stitching, saddle-stitching and covering
  • Binding, clipping and joining sheets together in the required series
  • Placing additional sheets and illustrated pages
  • Wrapping up ready materials
  • Maintaining records and inventories
  • Supervising junior staff
  • Removing and piling printed materials

Bindery Worker Skills and Specifications –

  • Good understanding abilities to understand the customer needs and specifications
  • Good writing and mathematical skill for maintaining records and drawing calculations
  • Must be able to perform tasks within time limit
  • Must be read to work with same nature of work every day
  • Having creativity hugely benefits for excellent embossing plans for books with minute details
  • Organization skills to perform different tasks systematically
