A dialysis registered nurse helps take care of patients who are suffering from kidney problems and have to undergo dialysis. There are two types of dialysis — haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis – which is the only way to save someone with kidney failure by filtering toxins and waste products from the blood, which is what the kidney is supposed to naturally do. These nurses work specifically for the nephrology department, which deals with kidney disorders, and they need to have knowledge and training on how to operate the dialysis machine. They may also have to make visits to patients at home and help with the purification process.
