Every hotel or resort has the front office department – it is the first point a guest comes across in the property. This job involves greeting guests when they arrive, assisting them for check-in and check-out and providing excellent customer service and, answering all their queries. The front office employee should be friendly and with a pleasing personality.

Front Office Hotel Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Assisting guests for check-in and check-out
  • Making guest reservations and keeping records of all guests
  • Answering queries of the guests and suggesting them about the must-do things in the town
  • Liaising between the guests and various departments of the hotel
  • Answering the phone call, forwarding calls and taking messages for guests when they are out of  the hotel
  • Handling payment and related duties

Front Office Hotel Education, Training, and Qualifications –

A Hotel Management Diploma is required for this position.

Front Office Hotel Skills and Specifications –

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good management abilities
  • Good organizational skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Good with billing and basic mathematical skill
  • Maintaining all records up to date

The average salary for the position of a Front Office employee ranges from $20000 to $26000 annually.
