When it comes to the managing of the sales and marketing aspects of a company, the Sale Director plays a pivotal role.

The size and nature of an organization play an important in determining the role that a sale director has to perform. But then there are certain basic duties, which are common in the list of functions of almost every sale director. For strategy, direction as well as sales and marketing initiatives, you may also be expected to play a key sales role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directing of strategies and planning for sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Managing matters related to sales; this would include everything from the controlling of sales budget to dealing with technicalities associated with selling of a particular product.
  • Promoting and campaigning for a product and taking charge of the entire process of advertising for the product.
  • Taking care of every aspect of everything related to the promotion of a product i.e. the graphics, drafts, multimedia projections and many other similar factors.
  • Negotiating with the clients is another important duty.
  • Supervising every nitty-gritty of the entire sales section of an organization.

  • Reasoning capacity.
  • Ability to promote a product,
  • Adequate communication skills.
  • Presentation savvy.
  • Ability to carry out skillful negotiation.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in management with specialization in sales from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in similar field for good number of years is an added advantage.
