Public Information Specialist Job Description and Profile

Under general direction, the job of Public Information Specialist entails the development and implementation of public information campaigns and programs that are related to the mission of the organization such as marketing, customer services and outreach. The Public information Specialist may act at times as the spokesperson of the organization and even supervise staff members. He performs related tasks and duties as may be required of him.

Duties and Specifications

  • Plans in the implementation as well as development of media campaigns and program meant to keep the general public fully informed of the organization’s services and accomplishments.
  • Studies objectives, policies and mandate in order to promote the services, goals and missions of the organization.
  • Designs organization or program logo and establishes various brands.
  • Distributes items that will convey the goals of the program or organization as well as its presence, image or message.
  • Establishes various methodologies for research and uses various methods for gathering data such as questionnaires, surveys and even opinion polls.
  • Creates reports and even graphic drawings and illustrations of usual findings.
  • Submits recommendations to organization management in the establishment of new services or programs.
  • Creates and gives out public information announcements, new releases and fact sheets to the general public and media representatives.

Skills and Specifications

  • Able to effectively communicate, both written and oral.
  • Gives presentations to various big and small organizations and groups.
  • Be able to work efficiently with a variety of groups and individuals
  • Should be able to college and analyze significant data and draw conclusions from them.
  • Should know how to independently work or in harmony with other co-workers.
  • Should be able to create written letters, correspondences, projects and reports.
  • Be able to compile and create statistical reports.
  • Should know how to establish and adjust work priorities.
  • Be able to read, understand, and apply organization procedures, policies and related regulations and laws.

Education and Qualifications

  • Possession of Bachelor’s Degree in courses such as marketing or any closely related area of studies.
  • Three years of good professional experience in marketing or advertising campaign or public information is basic requirement.
